Alright, looks like I'm skiving off the PSFS meeting tonight. I feel way too tired and headache-y already, I need a nap, except I also need to get a certain amount of work done tonight. I was going to do it between now and 7:30, but it's just not going to happen. So I can either nap so I am fit to do work later this evening, or nap so I am fit to go out in public and not do any work at all. And since want my work to keep liking me and showering me with assignments (the last three days have been more like hail, but even so. The later half of December is usually dead, and they had very little for me for the last month, so if it's here, I'm taking it) the latter choice just won't cut it.
I also have a workshop tomorrow, so I have to get a reasonable amount of sleep for that, too.
Adendum: I should also maybe mention the reason I'm crashing now is due to the last two days, which went something like:
a. My sleep schedule is backwards, I go to bed at 11am on Wednesday, intending to make it a nap and actually go to bed in the evening.
b. Alarm was sent to silent mode, so I slept through it. But my work calls at about 4pm to confirm the big-ass file they sent me at noon; I deal with work while half-asleep and successfully manage to confirm that the fact they haven't hardly had anything for me isn't personal. And that if I get this in on time, or early, I'll be more visible. Since my schedule is still backwards I decide to stay up all night to finish it, then go run a few errands in the morning and find something else to keep me awake until late afternoon on Thursday, to try this "fixing my schedule" thing again.
c. I finish assignment at 9:30 am on Thursday and turn in, well before deadline. Actually on the ball to leave for errands with roommate at 10am.
d. errands turn into going to the KoP mall until 7:30 pm, and I forgot my phone. exhaustion preys upon me like an impatient vulture. I arrive home around 8pm to discover yet another giant assignment had been thrown to me at 11am, and is due by 1:30 pm Friday. I email them to apologize profusely and say I can get the first hour done but possibly not the remaining 23 minutes with all of the additional timestamping by the oddly-earlier-than-normal deadline, and suggest they may want to hand the latter bit off to someone else.
I've been up for 28 hours straight by this point, and I am dead on my feet. I change my Friday availability to under 45 minutes**, because I know I won't be up for more than that.
Five minutes later I'm asleep.
e. I wake up for no clear reason at about 3am. There are many cats on me. I go back to sleep. My alarms wake me appropriately at 5:30 am, and after a breakfast of yummy Cheesecake Factory leftovers (and let me take a minute to give accolades to the chef of last night's Bang Bang chicken and shrimp; The Cheesecake Factory has always done thai-inspired cuisine surpringly awesome) and I get to work. I check my email, and there is actually no reply yet from work.
f. The file goes surprisingly well, it's the same project as yesterday's but a different moderator, and it has none of the crosstalk or other audio problems as yesterday's file. Yaye. Around 9am I find an email from work asking if I can finish the entire file if they bump my original deadline back by a couple hours. Since I was about to call them to see if they'd re-assigned the last chunk, I reply with, "Yes, and at my current speed I can probably get the whole thing in by the originally desired due time," that being 1:30pm.
g. 1:20 pm, I turn the file in. Yaye!
h. 1:45pm. I'm assigned an 1:53:00 (almost two hour) file, due Saturday, supposedly. I think it's a typo and ask if they mean Sunday, but no, it wasn't a typo, although if I need until Sunday morning they can "work with that." Usually anything over 90 minutes AUTOMATICALLY gets a 48 hour window. And as I noted earlier **I was only signed up for 45 minutes today. x_x
But as previously noted, I need the work, and I need to impress my bosses, so I can't flake now. But I also need enough rest to be coherent, and apparently I need more than 9 hours of sleep within a 36 hour period, because it's only 4 pm and I'm already feeling massively sleep-starved.
So I will sleep now, and work the night away again, but bed down in the wee hours of the morning so I can be clear-headed for my armature workshop tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully I can get the assignment turned in early evening at the latest, and do something other than Transcribing tomorrow night.
