OMG Yellowcab WTF!!?

lynatiSo...I generally like to plan to arrive early to things, such as trains, or flights, because often times something comes up- some delay- that you wind up needing that superfluous time for to keep on schedule. Sure, this often leads to you stuck waiting for an hour-twenty at local Septa stop, but that's what books and headphones and meditating on fanfic are for.
The train- the only train- from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia leaves at 7:20am. I'm staying about 12-15 minutes driving distance from the station. I factor in an extra half an hour of time for the cab, just in case of traffic snarls or the driver being a little late, and arrange for a Yellowcab car to pick me up at 6:30am. 50 minutes to get to the train when it should take 15 tops.
They're supposed to call you when they're a few minutes away, to make sure you are up and at the door when they arrive. When we hadn't heard from them by 6:40, Norcumi called in and asked what was up. "You're next in the queue," we were told. "Someone is on the way, they should be there soon." When we called back the addition 25 minutes later, since by 7:05 we still hadn't heard from the driver, we were told by a different dispatcher that they were "backed up" and no, no one was presently on the way. By that point we were pretty much calling to cancel the cab as my train was going to leave the station before I arrived, but we'd wanted to know what the hell had been up with the supposed unit that was "only a few minutes away."
So, I spent about 2 minutes on the phone with Amtrak and moved my ticket to the next day, and stayed an extra day in Pittsburgh. Most of it asleep, since I went to bed ultimately at about 9am. I'd not slept for fear of sleeping through my alarm and missing the train.
In closing, THE PITTSBURGH YELLOWCAB COMPANY SUCKS. USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY IF YOU NEED A CAB. TELL YOUR FRIENDS. kthxdie.
