So, I got up this morning and my desktop didn't want to access the internet- couldn't seem to find it, even though it worked as well as it ever does on my laptop. there's an error with the network adapter that provides the local side of my connection- it shows as having a problem in the Device Manager and in further detail "This device cannot start (code 10)". When trying to "repair" the connection, it says it cannot be repaired because "Failure to query TCP/IP settings of the connection." I've tried swapping cables around and the cable is not the problem- but the connection at the back where it plugs in looks a little, well, loose. The light is on but it seems further back behind the bracket than it should be.

So, can anyone translate this problem into understandable terms for me? Because right now, from what I've found online and what logic is telling me, is either to uninstall-reinstall the device, or open the tower and see if there is something broken or out-of-place with the actual card. Advice?

Coincidentally, Dell is supposed to be calling to set up an appointment for fixing my laptop this afternoon- but I don't know if the appointment will be for this afternoon, or even if it is if they'll say they aren't allowed to advise/look at the problem on another computer, even if it is a Dell.

Edit: okay, I have no patientce. I cracked the tower case and cleared out a lot of dust, and while one side of the housing of the port does seem to be broken it still seems solidly in place. And this time the cable properly clicked when I put it in, and now the internet works again. Huzzah!

Now for your words of the day:

Ankolysing Spondalitis
sero-negative Spondylarthropies
Lupus Cerebritas
thrombocytopenia
and
granulomas

yes, I had to spend some time on google and wikipedia this morning. Thrombocytopenia was actually the one I found the fastest, because searching for "cydopenia" got me a quick return of the correct spelling of cytopenia, and while ombo cytopenia got me no returns, one of the pages on it listed the different types, and I alreayd knew from context that it referenced platlet count.

Anyway, this was still easier than yesterday's Canadian Motocross Championship coverage assignment- those guys talk FAST.
