Back from Philly. Learned yesterday that Orca had to be taken to the kitty hospital over the weekend; he hadn't gotten sick from the frontline like I had feared- the opposite in fact. It hadn't affected him it all, so all the fleas apparently made a bee-line for him and he was getting anemic from the attention. : ( They also took over my bed, althouhg I seem to have successfully fixed that problem.

There are asian bakeries every 60 feet or so in Chinatown. Suffice to say, my pork-bun cravings got to see some fulfillment. I even bought a few back with me, but I nibbled most of them away before I even left the airports, and chomped down the final one last night before I went to bed.

So yesterday morning my sister took me into the city- she had to go anyway, her internship at the Philadelphia Zoo had just ended and she needed someone to sign her hours as part of submitted her time their for school credit. It didn't take too long, and she went to say goodbye to some of the animals that weren't out, so I got to pet an Armadillo. Her name was Pinky, and she felt like a snake. And had cute strange feet with big blunted toenails that the plushie versions seem to leave out. I gave her an extra few pets for Aaron, armadillo fan that he is. Then we went in search of Schuykill, which I may now be spelling correctly. It was smaller than I expected but the two teachers were nicer and did, indeed, seem to understand what it was I wanted and appear to be able to help me achieve it.

Then we walked a couple blocks to Chinatown for lunch, and we tried the "Asian Mixx" restaurent that was next to the Pho place from the other day, and it was good. Shumai, sushi, and broccoli sauteed with garlic; we split the appetizers and my sister got a teriyaki salmon bento box, and I took the very-yummy leftovers from both our meals and snacked over the next couple hours. After she left I made it to the market east station- less than a block away, within which I had my pick of places for to buy bbq pork buns- and got my ticket for the R1 line to the airport. No problems there. Other than missing out on seeing Allaine due to a snafu with the train schedules (mostly that it was going to take an extra hour and a half to get into the city from where Sara lives and I hadn't learned that until it was too late to keep it from ruining my plans) and not having a chance to go to a branch of Bank of America, it was a good trip.

I haven't even mentioned it all, like getting to hang out with Lenny or the belly dancers or our ninety-minute drive searching for a pool hall that when we found it turned out *not* to serve alcohol and where I came up with some interesting sculpture ideas, or my sister's new pets- three new little blue poison dart frogs, and I called my step-mother on mother's day and had probobly the first phone conversation with her in eight years that didn't wind up with us arguing at some point. And they are naming a bridge after my grandfather at the cedar run wildlife refuge in Medford, NJ in a couple weeks.

I like Philly. I think I'll move there.
