Jan. 21st, 2004 04:29 pmI keep meaning to post on this stuff, and then I don't.
So I am.
last week...I'm leaving for class when I not the Van parked in the front pull-in strip. "Hey, it says "CSI" on the side, kinda like the TV show. neat!"
"Hey, it's got "crime scene investigation" spelled out fully beneath the acronym, JUST liek the TV show. cool.!"
"Hey, there's a police car parked behind it with flashing lights."
three steps later...
"WHY is there a CSI van and a cop car here?"
Well, it turns out that the guy in 601 died. not a surprise; he had both a brain tumor and full-blown aids, but he was a nice person and its still sad. I didn't know him very well.
A couple weeks back a guy commented on my gargies sweatshirt. "That was a great show; did you ever wach it?" heh. what a question. : )
Emambu visited me last weekend, and we had fun. He and I and Steph went out for sushi one afternoon, and then out to see "Big Fish" (which was very good, if not precisely what I was expecting) and watched the anime "Wings of Honneamise", which he's been trying to get me to see for about two years now. It was good, but I couldn't give it my full attention due to the fact it was dubbed, and I had to type up my class notes.
I think I did better on the test last Monday than the previous one.
Last night Cromwell noticed me pacing in the halsl on break and asked what was up; I explained about pacing helping me think, and he asked what I was thinkign about, and I said- what else?- "my fic". He'd previously mentioned in the class that he occasionally beta-reads screenplays for people for continuity and glaring errors; and commented about my deference of using copyrighted characters with an, "oh, so I wouldn't undertsand them without being familiar with them" type comment.
I think he, previously knowing that I write, if not what about, may have been trying to remind me that he was open to beta-ing; we got into the discussion of the need for editors since being so close to your work often blinds you to certain aspects of it. He can be very critical; frankly, I would like his opinion of work of mine, if I ever do something I feel is worthy of showing.
He also mentioned some writing-related computer software, but couldn't remember the computer link offhand. I'll ask him to email it if he finds it; it sounded spiff, and the small knotfull of people I have as fic-foils are increasingly busy these days. Of course, so am I...
I haven't been to sleep yet. I needed to go to the bank and I kept oversleeping. I made it today, fixed what i had to, withdrew funds and made a purchase at the Barnes and Noble, in books on the subjects of screenwriting to psychology to mythology to fiction. and a copy of 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest", since that is what our "final paper" is on and I want to turn it in on the early due-date, but need a refresher to do well. Besides, its a good film, and has both Nicholson and Lloyd in it; a definite bonus.
oh, and a small note to the Cyrway Appreciation League (ie, Aaron) - she updated the main page of her site again; is still tinkering with everything, since fewer of the main links work than previous. But is apparently adding a MiST page up.
