As much as I love all you guys out here in net-land, one thing I have sorely been missing is local people to hang out with. I have none.
had none.

Spenty the evening over at Amanda and her fiancee chris's appartment, talking art, the shittiness factor of the half of the school I don't have to deal with, computers, show weapons, sushi, and hella-sorts of other things. Oh, and they wanted to see my images on my site, which they then bookmarked, along with the page for Ketnar.org's explanation of it's accoutn types, since they both already wanted sites but didn't know where to go.

I figure, this helps everyone.

They are also runnign a small print shop out of their (rather spacious) living room, I may have found where to get busniess cards.

Amanda is planning to transfer out of this school since she wants to go into printmaking and the department (read: head teacher) sucks ass. he's telling her her sort of work isn't fitting to the current art world, and refuses to teach her techniques on the basis of "I don't see that your art is headed in that difrection" ...bullshit. You don't tell an art student this. If the ceramics department was liek this (and thankfully its not) I would have left the school years ago, too. On top of that, people I know had already switched out of that department when they heard the current head was leaving and this guy was being promoted.

then I got to see Chris's art. it is...un-FUCKING- beleivable. Apparently he got kicked out at the end of freshman year...partly because he was promised a scholarship that never materialized and had the bad graces to go ask the school to find it, had had signed paperwork from them after all. ANd then his Foundations teacher and buddies basically told him his work wasn't art, mostly because he "spent too much time on it".
...
...
*pause her disgusted disbelief* SINCE WHEN WAS THAT A FUCKING CRITERIA???

He does the MOST amazing work I have EVER seen, and with a ballpoint pen. On 11 x 8 paper, intricate detail that is practically photo-realistic on these GORGEOUS quasi-abstract forms. words can't even give you an incling, and I only wish I had an image to show. I'd cut off my foot, personally, with a hacksaw if I could have his talent. (and be ensured I wouldn't contract blood poisoning.) Think Geiger, on a microscopic scale. yes, THAT good. I shit you not. And they had the balls to tell him he's not an artist. He's freaking better than almost everyone's work I have seen at this school, and most of them combined. *shakes her head over the idiocy and hypocrisy of it all*

anyway, somehow it became 1 am, so they offered to walk me home and came in for a bit, so I could show them my quint blades and the Joachim and the horrible mess of my place.

6 hours to class, and I've still got Aaron's addition to read. I'm not goign to bed without it, i've been waiting since october 2002 for this. ; )
(this is the first time I've been on the computer since this mornign to drop a post, and last night for forgettign to turn it off)
anyway, RR, then sleep.

*hugs people*
