I'm attempting to update who I am following on this blog, since the last time I was active here the whole "reading page" thing was (I think??) automatic based on who you were following, not something you had to subscribe to each person for. ...Or maybe it was always that way, and I used Dreamwidth so minimally I never noticed?

And I no longer recognize about half of the journal names of those I had previously friended. O_O

subscribing to the reading page and granting access has been separate for a while (I can't remember the origins of the site; too long ago) but it's a definite change from the LJ approach. I like it once I get used to it. but then I've been on tumblr for so long where everything' public and the points don't matter that I've lost most of my privacy filters anyway.

The reading page has always been based on who you subscribe to, yes. DW's philosophy is pretty heavily "give control to the user"; they wouldn't do the whole algorithmic suggestion thing.
