Jul. 25th, 2004 10:55 pmI was talking to Jill, and the discussion of jobs came up, which got me thinking on special effects companies again.
While I have looked up a few individually when they had been brought specifically to my attention, I have never actually gone onlien an attempted to do a search for them in general.
I tried it; it didn't go too fell. Then I found a link to Cinefex's online site...my friend Amanda had recommended the magazine to me; it actually helped me quite a bit. And the site has an index of every SE company that has every been included in it's articles.

..unfortunately, it doesn't link them directly to the company's homesites (assuming they have one) but it does give me a big list of things to search individually.
I realized the first few on the list were all computer-based, and skipped to the first one that looked to be more physical.
I started with "All Effects", which isn't really a small enough margin to get the studio, which I did not...but it DID bring up this site, fifth down:
http://www.vfxhq.com/
Another one that looks to be very useful.
I looked up Jurassic Park there, since they have a list of what studios won offical awards for their work and I know that movie had one of the best animatronics (dinosaurs) of its time, and that gave me Stan Winston Studios. I did a separate search for them...they have a site online...and a very very useful FAQ.

...And the FAQ refers back to Cinefex and another magazine.
