Nov. 19th, 2003 03:06 amI'm going to regret having stayed up tomorrow morning, but I went through and re-read the five parts of Coyote the Bando's When Clans Collide.
Now, I was- and still am- upset that he never finished it...and I thought I understood why he hadn't. LOTS of peopel contributed characters...and he had only four of the 8 team chapters done. and one assumes there would have been a wrap-up after that, in which Things Were Resolved(tm) and peopel were sent home.
But his notes got nuked, so he couldn't finish it.
But I just re-read it for the first time in over two years, and well,
Bullshit.
the combined four team chapter run about 50 pages on my computer. Save for his own and Cyrway's characters, there is little in-depth on people's actions. Since all those who die that AREN'T native slide back to their own worlds, no harm no foul, and no permanent alteraion to their own timeline, it doesn't really matter if he nukes the entire remainder of the other four teams.
Basically, save for his own chgaracters, it doesn't matter who dies or how- so why can't he go back and re-work it out?
under 60 pages, and he could finish it. the site has listed who is bad, and who is good, and frankly, for those who have grudges/personal issues against brought-overs from the other side, those could be foudn through a week's worth of fanfic-research (had he the time, or rather, the interest in spednign it.)
everhtying else he could do as he liked for...and his own characters and their repercussions on his wolrd are his own business, to change at will as well.
Basically, since he controls the whole thing and its ending, and doesn't have to do much in the way of character develoment- only actions- I no longer beelive he has a valid reason for not finishing the blasted, wonderful thing.
except that he's lost interest, as has 99.9% of the fandom.
But damn, I'd like to see it done. Here's hopign he'll take another shot at it someday.
oh, and yes, I do have the newly-named "When Clans Collage" Walkabout set in the WCC.
Basically, since my people showed up so late, acted so weird, and insisted on harboring gargoyles who had emerged on the "other" side of the perverbial line in the sand (and in particular, one who had been sent under orders to kill all of Wyvern and its allies) it was decided they couldn't be trusted and weren't allowed in on the battle plans. That's the in-universe, and RL explanation-
We just came to fucking late to play. ; )
...but not to take advantage of the situation. Mwah.
and if anyone out there in toon-land finds my using the set offensive in any way, well, I'm not planning on posting it online. Like many of my inter-universe fics, I know its bad juju, as well as bad form, to use/write for other peopel's worlds/characters without permission. And I know I'm not gonan get it.
But what happens HAPPENS in my world, regardless of any fandom practices, so all I can do to balance the etiquette of the net, and the way to keep my writing true to itself is to WRITE OUT all those bastards...and simply not post them. Which kinda sucks, but hey, that's life.
...oh, and I decided that in order to do the muses correctly, it required my sculping a larger version of their faces in order to pin down the detail I couldn't get on the wax moquettes. So, pretty much the full of the 7-odd hours I spent in studio tonight were on the start of a bust of Eddie. I damn near finished it, too. Tomorrow I do snapshots and send out to see what others think about the closeness of my representation. mwah.
