Present time

“Oh, shiiiiii-“
The bomb finished it’s count-down to zero, but didn’t go off.
The small group remained frozen, hands still raised in front of faces to ward off the blow that never came.
“I guess it worked after all...” said Morph. It took him only a few moments to recover. “...As if there was ever any doubt in my skills! Why, I-”
A sword-point at the base of his throat silenced him.
Clarice waved her off, and Illyana lowered the blade.

“He did de-activate it. We’ve succeeded, right?”
She glanced around at her companions- ‘Yana, Morph, Wolfsbane (a male version), Mirage, and Chamber- for confirmation, and then down at the Tallus.
Which began making small clicking sounds, an action that Blink had never seen from it in the three-odd years she’d been its keeper.

“What is the matter?” Jono’s psionic question echoed through their minds.
“It seems we have a problem...” the voice of the Timebroker issued from behind the team, and as one they turned to face him, weapons at the ready before they recognized him.
“This has never happened before.” He continued. “But then, a mission was never quite ended the way that one has...”
“What is wrong this time, Timebroker?” Illyana Rasputin’s voice demanded curtly.
“Since the start of your travels...” he eyed Morph and Blink, the only two left from the original group, “There has only been one mission that was not completed, in some fashion or another. One error that has not yet been corrected, nor left at a fault. And as re-aligning these worlds corrects each of your own home’s stability, it seems to have tossed an unforseen element into the mix...Blink, I had come to give you the good word when I noticed this...inconsistency.” at her startled look, he nodded.

“The continuity of your home reality has been repaired; unfortunately for you, it still no longer exists. That is not a problem, as we intended to send you to live with you old mentor, Victor Creed. Unfortunately, examination of his situation has shown there to be a problem. He is...allergic...to some aspect on the world where he currently resides. As you would become as well, if you were to join him. It has taken a long time for this problem to reach a noticeable level, but at the rate which he is now being affected...if he remains there, Sabretooth will be dead in less than a month.”

The room went cold, the air like slivers of ice in her lungs as Clarice forced herself to keep breathing.
“-and if he leaves, David Richards grows up to destroy that world,” she finished for him.

He looked a bit surprised. “Yes, that is the dilemma.”
Blink’s eyes narrowed. “We are not going to kill that boy.”
“We...don’t have to.” Replied Illyana, pale eyes wide with surprise as she regarded the Tallus, which was now on her wrist. Glancing down, Blink saw the machine was well and truly gone from her own. She stared at her friend through a glow of her own power.
“Tell me.”
